Sulphide-hydrogen sulphide water baths

Sulphide-hydrogen sulphide baths are one of the most valuable forms of spa therapy, used as full or half baths. The treatment takes place in water at 37–38°C and lasts 10–15 minutes, according to medical instructions.

After the bath, at least one hour of rest in a lying position is recommended so the body can fully benefit from the therapeutic effects. Sulphide water, thanks to its alkaline reaction, has keratolytic and keratoplastic effects on the skin – it softens and regenerates the epidermis, supports its reconstruction, and improves cellular metabolism.

Therapeutic effects

Sulphur penetrates the skin as hydrogen sulphide, thiosulphate, and in colloidal form, participating in chondroitin sulphate synthesis – an important component of joint cartilage. The treatment:

• has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects,
• improves blood flow and metabolism,
• relieves symptoms of joint and skin diseases,
• accelerates detoxification processes (lead, mercury, arsenic, bismuth).
